A change in a person’s regular bowel habit may have many causes. Infections, diet and lifestyle may have an effect on a person’s normal habit. Bowel habit may change in frequency and type (eg. Diarrhoea and constipation).
Generally, a change in habit for more than six weeks should be investigated to check for a more serious cause. The risk of serious conditions such as bowel cancer increases with advancing age.
If you are concerned about your bowel habit, you can book a consultation with Dr Goel to discuss investigation and treatment options best suited to you.
