What are Gallstones?
Gallstones are small stones which can form in the gallbladder (a small sac below the liver which stores bile) or biliary system (the ducts below the liver). They are made up of bile components which are produced by the liver.
Gallstones do not cause symptoms in most people but can lead to abdominal pain (biliary colic) and sometimes the stones can cause a blockage which may require urgent treatment. This may involve a special type of endoscopy (ERCP) or surgery.
If you are worried about gallstone disease, you can book a consultation with Dr Goel to discuss investigation and treatment options best suited to you.
